While solution-dyed acrylics like Sunbrella have been around since the 1950’s. Weathermax is a solution dyed polyester. So it has all the strength and dimensional stability of Aqualon. And the breathability and colorfastness of Sunbrella. Most fabrics are created from fibers that are initially colorless, and then dyed.
In solution dyed materials
the coloring actually takes place before the yarn is ever created. A liquid
solution is combined with colors, and this colored liquid is
then extruded into fiber which is then spun into
yarn, and woven into a fabric.
